Bradford Bingley 16-19 Nuneaton

After this away win at Bradford & Bingley, Nuneaton are second and seven points behind leaders Caldy although they have played a game more.

The home side took the lead with fly half Stuart Dixon putting over a 9th minute penalty goal. Nuneaton responded immediately with Rickie Aley levelling at 3-3.

Aley then dropped a couple of goals to make it 9-3 at half time. He added a third early in the second half to make it 12-3. Dixon pulled three points back with a penalty goal on 49 minutes.

Just after the hour mark and the home side were in front with replacement Liam Frost going over and Dixon converted for 13-12 after 62 minutes.

Dixon increased the lead on 70 minutes to make it 16-12 with the clock running down. The Nuns snatched the win in the 77th minute when full back Robert Cook went over and Huw Thomas converted for the win. 

  

Preston Grasshoppers 34-8 Leicester Lions

Leicester Lions Points: Try: J Peacock (44). Pens: J Boden (61).

Hoppers consolidate ninth place with this comfortable home win over Leicester Lions who they now trail by a point in the table.

Marcus Jackson gave the home side the lead but they had to wait till the 23rd minute for the penalty goal. 12 minutes later they were over for the games opening score as scrum half Darren Wilson scored and Jackson converted. He finished the half with a second penalty goal and a 13-0 lead after 40 minutes.

The Lions got the opening score of the second half as centre Jody Peacock went over for 13-5. Jackson slotted a couple more penalty goals for the home side and Jon Boden hit one for the visitors as Hoppers led 19-8 after 61 minutes.

In the final quarter there were tries for flanker Michael Jones and Wilson completed a double to move clear, as Jackson converted one and added another penalty goal.

   

 

Hull Ionians 10-21 Fylde

Hull Ionians Points: Try: J Greene (15). Pens: J Ferguson (48). Cons: J Ferguson (16).

Fylde Points: Try: O Brennand 2 (21, 25), T Albinson (11). Cons: S Nutt 3 (13, 22, 26).

Fylde are third after this away win at Hull Ionians with most of the scoring coming in the opening 40 minutes.

Fylde got the games opening score with centre Tom Albinson going over for an 11trh minute try and Stephen Nutt converted.

Centre James Greene replied for the home side on 15 minutes with a touchdown and James Ferguson converted for 7 all.

Six minutes later and Fylde were back in front as winger Ollie Brennand was again on the mark with his 11th try of the season and Stephen Nutt converted. Four minutes later and Fylde were 14 points in front as Brennard completed a double and Nutt was again on target and that was the final score of the half and they went in 21-7 ahead.

In the second half Ferguson put over a 48th minute penalty goal but that was the final score of the match.  

 

Darlington MP 38-31 Halifax

This bottom of the table clash went the way of the home side with DMP taking all five points on offer and Halifax left with a losing bonus point and four try bonus point, their first of the season.

The home side went 13-0 up in the opening 10 minutes with tries from full back Gavin painter and flanker Richard Ellis after Jon Benson had kicked an early penalty goal.  Benson added a second penalty goal and late in the half Painter completed a double and Benson converted for 23-0. Late in the half Halifax got off the mark with No 8 Richard Brown going over and Iain Gordon converted.

Halifax started the second half with a try from flanker Dominic Moon, Gordon converted and put over a penalty goal to make it 23-17 after 52 minutes.

Prop Danny Miller then bagged a brace of tries for the home side and Benson converted the second one to make it 35-17just before the hour mark.

Back came the visitors again with tries from centre Dan McGee and then a penalty try to close to 35-31 with Gordon converting them both.

Benson added a late penalty goal to seal the win 

  

 

 

Kendal 28-23 Macclesfield

Macclesfield Points: Try: F Mulchrone (57), P Allen (62). Pens: R Winney 3 (10, 34, 77). Cons: R Winney 2 (57, 62).

Kendal pick up an excellent home win over Macclesfield and are now just five points behind the fifth placed side with two games in hand on them. Dan Stephens kicked the home side ahead on seven minutes with a penalty goal. Three minutes later and Macc were level with Ross Winney responding. Tries for the home side from scrum half James Gough and wing Lewis Boyd, Stephens adding a conversion, saw the home side go 15-3 ahead after 26 minutes. Before half time Winney and Stephens swapped penalty goals and Kendal went in 18-6 ahead.

The first score of the second half was vital and it went the way of the home side with prop Richard Harriman going over and Stephens converted for 25-6.

Two tries in five minutes got the visitors right back in it as full back Fergus Mulchrone and hooker Peter Allen went over and Winney converted them both to make it 25-20 after 62 minutes.

Stephens’s edged Kendal two scores clear with a 66th minute penalty goal. Winney narrow the gap to claim a losing bonus point on 77 minutes as Kendal picked up another excellent home win.

     

 

Loughborough Students 16-27 Huddersfield

Huddersfield are up into seventh place after this away win at Loughborough with Chris Johnson again amongst the points with 17.It took till the 28th minute for the games opening score as Henry Pyrgos slotting a penalty goal. 10 minutes later he was converting a try from full back Peter Clark and the home side led 10-0 at half time. 

In the second half Pyrgos got the opening score with a second penalty goal to go 13-0 ahead. Huddersfield were finally on the board with flanker Barry Jacobsz, a new signing, going over and Johnson converted. Johnson then went over for a try and he converted that and they were 14-13 ahead after 63 minutes.

Johnson them moved the visitors further ahead with a couple of drop goals and they were 20-13 in front. Pyrgos pulled three points back for the home side but the match was settled on 75 minutes when replacement back row forward Nick Sharpe went over and Johnson converted.
